In this episode of Sessions we filmed with Juan Puente, a tattooist known for his classic approach to the tattoo art form. A master of many styles, we met up with him at Travis Barkers’ Musink where he did a beautiful black and grey Rose of No Man’s Land tattoo.
Musink includes car shows, tattoos, and some of our favorite rock and roll bands. It’s a perfect place for high quality tattoo artists to show the connection between lifestyle and arts creation. Juan Puente is a perfect example of a tattooist who is devoted to the craft. He spoke about his connection to the client, a friend of his of 30+ years, and how they met through punk music. Juan also mentioned that the Black and Grey Rose of No Man’s Land tattoo that he inked while at the fest was above another tattoo he had done for his friend: a memorial piece for a family member that had sadly passed.
A true master of classic tattooing, Juan Puente’s skill set includes a vast amount of different tattoo styles and iconography. This beautiful portrait of a wartime nurse he created for his client and friend is an awesome epitome of that.
